Since Marko was conceptualized in May 2018, our team began working on a mission to unlock the data of Aramark. We wanted to provide a single source of the truth in a frictionless, efficient manner. In other words, Marko would become Aramark’s Data and AI platform. This was no easy task given the vast amount of data that Aramark possesses – both structured and unstructured.

We had a great starting point thanks to prior initiatives for reporting capabilities like ad-hoc portals and e-mailed PDFs. While these solutions were great for the time, it was clear we had to take it a step further to compete in the data-driven world around us. So the Marko team got to work and began corralling data sources, building pipelines, designing endpoints, and deploying micro services. After many long nights, Marko was ready for production.

The business has already realized the impact of this work in a short period of time. Marko is powering our Enable application that brings production cards, temperature controls, and more to iPads for the front-line. In milliseconds, operators can make adjustments to PRIMA menus and record service results. We’re excited for the ongoing success of Enable and future applications to be powered by Marko.
